Our Hawarden walks take place every Friday morning and in addition there is also a monthly walk on a Friday afternoon, starting and finishing at Hawarden Institute (see map below) which is situated on the north side of Glynne Way at the eastern edge of the village.

We hold two morning walks, both starting at 10am – an approximately 60 minute walk of around 2 miles which is set at a leisurely pace and an approximately 90 minute walk of between 3 and 4 miles which is set at a brisker pace.  The afternoon walk starts at 1:30, lasts for approximately 60 minutes and is set at a leisurely pace. All of the walks follow various routes along the public footpaths and streets and across some of the fields around the village. The 60 minute walks avoid using stiles and over the years Flintshire County Council have replaced most of the old wooden stiles with metal kissing gates.

Tea/coffee and cakes are available for a small charge at the Institute following all walks when there is an opportunity to socialise with other walkers.  The entrance to the Institute is at the rear of the building and it is usually opened up around 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the walks. We ask all walkers to gather at least 5-10 minutes before the start times so that we can leave promptly.  All walks have a trained leader and someone at the rear and first aid kits are carried. There is ample car parking available at the rear of the building.
