Memorial Walk

Our annual Memorial Walk for our beloved founder, Colin Herbert will be held on Friday 27th September starting from Hawarden Institute at 10:00. This will be a combined walk for all of our walkers and there will be opportunities to return to the Institute at different times depending on how far you wish to walk. Heather will be providing extra special refreshments for us.

Festive Walks

We shall be holding our walks in Hawarden and Higher Kinnerton as usual throughout December. Why not join one of our festive walks when you will be able to enjoy Christmas refreshments afterwards? These will be held in Hawarden at 10am and 1:30pm on Friday 16 December and at Higher Kinnerton on Thursday 22 December at 1:15pm. All walkers, both regulars and newcomers would be most welcome. For a change of scenery any of our Hawarden walkers are invited to join the Higher Kinnerton festive walk and of course our Higher Kinnerton walkers are also invited to join one of the festive walks at Hawarden. We would be more than happy to see as many of you as possible at either venue.

Memorial Walk

On Friday 23 September we held what will become an annual walk in memory of our inspirational founder and former chairman, Colin Herbert who sadly passed away earlier this year. The occasion, both sad and to be celebrated, was attended by over 50 walkers as well as Colin’s wife, Annabelle and the walk itself was organised and led by Brian Foley who had obtained permission from the Gladstone Estate to take us through Hawarden Park. At the end of the walk we all enjoyed cream cakes and tea/coffee at Hawarden Institute, hosted as ever by Heather.

British Heart Foundation

Community Walks has made a donation of £100 to the British Heart Foundation, which is the charity chosen by our late founder, Colin Herbert’s family. Here is a picture of our chairman, Ian Gibbons presenting the cheque at The British Heart Foundation’s premises in Mold.
