Unfortunately it has been decided to limit the frequency of our afternoon walks at Hawarden to once a month rather than weekly due to the very low turn outs we are now experiencing each Friday. This will come into effect on Friday 3rd November when walks will be held only on the first Friday of every month. This situation will be reviewed again in the New Year.

Due to the very high temperatures forecast for Friday 8th September, it has been decided to cancel the walks starting at Hawarden Institute at 10am. We shall be walking again as normal on Friday 15th September.

On Friday 22nd September 2023 we shall be holding our second Memorial Walk for our dear founder Colin Herbert. We shall meet at Hawarden Institute as normal for a 10am start. The walk will take us through Hawarden Park past the old castle. Heather will be providing extra special refreshments at the Institute afterwards. We hope to see as many of you as possible that morning.

A Musical Evening will be held at Hawarden High School on Friday 8th September commencing at 7pm. Admission is £5, payable on entry. All proceeds will be donated to the school’s chosen charity and refreshments will be available.

The musicians presenting will be senior students of Elaine Sleeman and the programme will be both classical and contemporary, mainly piano but also some flute and clarinet pieces.

All are welcome so please come along and support some wonderful local young talent.

We shall be holding our Christmas Lunch on Friday 1st December at the Beaufort Park Hotel near Mold. Please aim to arrive by 12:30 for sitting down at 13:00. Unfortunately the venue is limited to 60 people and we have now reached that number so we have started a waiting list in case anyone drops out nearer the time. Details of menus will be communicated during September.

Due to the extremely low number of walkers during the summer months, it has been decided to suspend Friday afternoon walks in Hawarden immediately following the walk on Friday 14th July and then to reinstate them on the first Friday in October.

Please note that this afternoon’s walk from Hawarden Institute has been cancelled due to the extremely hot weather.

On Friday 5th May we shall be holding our morning and afternoon walks as usual in Hawarden. To celebrate the occasion of King Charles’s Coronation the following day, Heather will be providing special cakes, refreshments and tableware for us all to enjoy. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day.

We shall be holding our morning and afternoon walks at Hawarden as usual on Good Friday. Heather will be kindly providing special refreshments and a free raffle for all of our walkers.

Due to the bad weather, in the interests of everyone’s safety, it has been decided that both the morning and afternoon walks at Hawarden will be cancelled on Friday 10 March. We shall resume our walks as normal on the 17th.
