Our 90 minute walk on Friday 25th October will start from Wepre Park car park CH5 4HL at 10:00. Toilets and a cafe are available at the Visitor Centre. There will be one hilly stretch and one section that will probably be a bit muddy but most of the walk will be on good surfaces and there won’t be any stiles.

Our next out of village walk will be held on Friday 30th August, led by Norman Edwards. Please meet outside The Range in Queensferry, CH5 1JJ for a 10:00 start. The walk will be flat with no stiles and will partly follow the River Dee.

Our 90 minute walk on Friday 26 July will start and finish at Stamford Way Fisheries, Stamford Way, Ewloe, CH5 3BZ (just past Ewloe Kennels and Ewloe Castle). The start time will be 10:00am. For those walkers who are unable to join this walk we shall be holding our 60 minute walk as usual starting and finishing at Hawarden Institute, also at 10:00am.

This year the Hawarden Group Christmas lunch will be held once again at the Beaufort Park Hotel near Mold. The date is Friday 6th December. Please contact Phil Jones (Tel: 07824-155230) if you would like to attend along with the names of any guests. There is no need to pay a deposit and full payment will be collected during the month of October. The menu will be circulated nearer the time. Prices are £18.50 for a main course, £23.50 for 2 courses and £28.50 for 3 courses.

After a very wet winter the local fields have finally dried out and we enjoyed a fine Spring morning walk on Friday taking in the vast carpet of bluebells in Hawarden churchyard.

We shall be holding our weekly morning walks at Hawarden as usual on Good Friday. Heather will kindly be holding a free raffle with Easter Egg prizes. We hope to see as many of you as possible!

9th February was a red letter day for one of our longest-serving Walk Leaders, Bruce Lewis. He celebrated his 90th birthday by leading one of our morning walks. Afterwards we all enjoyed a piece of delicious birthday cake baked by his partner Joan. Congratulations Bruce and thank you for everything you do for Community Walks. You are a brilliant advert for the benefits of walking!

Please note there will be no walks in Hawarden on Friday 1st December due to our Christmas lunch. Walks will resume once more on Friday 8th December and on every Friday morning during December. The monthly afternoon walk will be held on Friday 8th December.

The afternoon walk on Friday 3rd November has been cancelled due to a lack of walkers. Also, the afternoon walk due on Friday 1st December will be postponed until the following Friday (8th) due to our Christmas lunch which is being held on the 1st.
