Welcome to Community Walks in Hawarden and Higher Kinnerton

A warm and friendly reception is guaranteed for one and all!

Community Walks came into existence in April 2010, set up as an independent, self-funding walking group within the local area. It began life in Hawarden with walks starting and finishing at the Gladstone Library, but the number of walkers increased to the extent that we needed a bigger location so we moved to Hawarden Institute which provides ample parking as well as all the facilities needed before and after the walks.

The aim of the group is to provide free local walks in the Hawarden and Higher Kinnerton areas (and beyond), led by trained leaders, for people of all ages and fitness levels. See the Hawarden and Higher Kinnerton pages for details of our walks, locations and contacts.

All of our walks end with refreshments (for which there is a small charge) and the opportunity to sit and chat with the other walkers. The physical health benefits of walking are well recognised but the social and psychological benefits are equally important. Many of our walkers are people who live on their own for various reasons and they walk with our group (often encouraged by friends or acquaintances) because they are assured of a safe and friendly environment. All of our new walkers are made most welcome and as time goes on they make friends, develop friendship groups and start getting more involved in life around them.

We look forward to seeing you on one of our walks in the near future!
